阮玲玉在美女如云的上海滩，阮玲玉并不算惊艳。她清新脱俗，有深沉的忧郁气质。一颦一笑牵人心弦。 

1933年，阮玲玉风头正盛，但两年之后，她就选择了自杀，年仅25岁。

Ruan Lingyu Ruan Lingyu is no stuntman in Shanghai, a city surrounded by beautiful women. She was fresh and ethereal, with a deep melancholy. Every twinkle and smile pull the heartstrings.

Ruan was at the height of her popularity in 1933, but two years later she committed suicide at the age of 25.

阮玲玉出生于1910年，原名阮凤根。6岁时父亲因肺痨去世，母亲做帮佣维持家计。16岁那年，母亲被女主人诬陷偷钱，迫于生计她不得不从崇德女校退学，根据报纸上的信息，到电影公司应聘《挂名夫妻》的女主角。

从1926年到1935年，短短9年内，她拍摄了29部影片。

Ruan Lingyu was born Ruan Fenggen in 1910. His father died of consumption when he was six, and his mother worked as a servant to support the family. At the age of 16, her mother was falsely accused by the hostess of stealing money. Forced to make a living, she had to drop out of Chongde Girls' School. According to the information in the newspaper, she applied for the leading actress in the film "Husband and Wife in disguise".

In just nine years, from 1926 to 1935, she made 29 films.

阮玲玉饰演的角色跨度非常大，《野草闲花》中的卖花女丽莲，《故都春梦》中的歌女燕燕，《小玩意》中的叶大嫂，甚至女学生、女工、尼姑、乞丐，有正面角色也有反派，但基本上都是悲剧结局。

1933年4月，阮玲玉终于跟张达民离婚了。后来她与导演蔡楚生相识相知，可惜对方已有妻儿。她和“茶叶大王”唐季珊同居，但唐对她也并不是爱情，经常流连于歌舞娱乐场所，甚至还追求起了舞女梁赛珍。感情上的痛苦纠结、张达民敲诈勒索，小报记者造谣诽谤，这一切都让善良又懦弱的阮玲玉无法承受。

In April 1933, Ruan Lingyu finally divorced Zhang Damin. Later, she met director CAI Chusheng, who already had a wife and child. She and "tea king" Tang Jishan cohabitation, but Tang is not love for her, often linger in the entertainment venues, and even the pursuit of a dancer Liang Saizhen. Emotional pain kink, Zhang Damin extortion, tabloid reporter slander, all these let kind-hearted cowardly Ruan Lingyu cannot bear.

1935年3月7日晚，阮玲玉对母亲说肚子饿了，想喝粥。母亲做好粥，端进她的卧室。

她一个人在卧室，在粥里倒入3瓶30粒安眠药，留下一张写满了“人言可畏”纸和两封遗书，离开了这个让她痛苦的世界。  

On the evening of March 7, 1935, Ruan Lingyu told her mother that she was hungry and wanted porridge. Mother made the porridge and brought it into her bedroom.

Alone in her bedroom, she poured three bottles of 30 sleeping pills into the porridge, leaving a piece of paper filled with "terrible words" and two suicide notes, leaving the world that made her suffer.

她的遗书，后来被刊登在《思明商学报》上：

达民：我已被你迫死的，哪个人肯相信呢？你不想想我和你分离后，每月又津贴你一百元吗？你真无良心，现在我死了，你大概心满意足啊！人们一定以为我畏罪？其实我何罪可畏，我不过很悔悟不应该做你们两人的争夺品，但是太迟了！不必哭啊！我不会活了！也不用悔改，因为事情已到了这种地步。

季珊：没有你迷恋梁赛珍，没有你那晚打我，今晚又打我，我大约不会这样做吧！我死之后，将来一定会有人说你是玩弄女性的恶魔，更加要说我是没有灵魂的女性，但那时，我不在人世了，你自己去受吧！过去的织云，今日的我，明日是谁，我做一个"新时代女性"，真的要拿生命来换？想你自己知道了就是。我死了，我并不敢恨你，希望你好好待妈妈和小囡囡。还有联华欠我的人工二千零五十元，请作抚养她们的费用，还请你细心看顾她们，因为她们惟有你可以靠了！没有我，你可以做你喜欢的事了，我很快乐。玲玉绝笔。

Her suicide note, later published in Siming Business Daily, reads:

Damin: you forced me to death. who would believe that? Don't you want me to give you an allowance of $100 a month after I leave you? You have no conscience. Now that I'm dead, you're probably content! People must think I'm guilty? In fact, I am not terrible, BUT I regret not to be the two of you fight, but it is too late! Don't cry! I won't live! There is no need to repent, for it has come to this.

Ji Shan: without you infatuating with Liang Saizhen, without you beating me that night and beating me again tonight, I probably wouldn't have done it! After my death, some people will say that you are a devil playing with women in the future, more to say that I am a woman without soul, but at that time, I am not alive, you go to suffer! The weaving cloud of the past, who am I today, and who will I be tomorrow? If I become a "new era woman", I really want to trade my life for it? If you find out for yourself.
